It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Many contend the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
